It’s so lovely to meet you!
My name is Sarah, and I am a Professional Art Therapist and Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) (RCT-C). I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, with my dog and two cats, and you can often find me curled up with a good book, savouring great food, or combing the beach for sea glass.
My journey into art therapy began on the other side of the process—as a client—where I experienced firsthand the power of creativity in healing and self-discovery. This transformation inspired me to help others navigate their own paths through art.
I understand the importance of identity, intersectionality, and lived experience in therapeutic work. My practice is grounded in inclusivity, self-exploration, and the belief that creativity is for everyone, no matter their background or abilities.
I offer a compassionate, person-centred approach, incorporating Art Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Somatic Experiencing to meet you where you are in ways that feel meaningful and effective. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity, trauma, grief, and more.
My Experience
I hold an Honours degree in Neuroscience from Dalhousie University, along with a certificate in Disability Management, which provided me with a strong foundation in mental health and accessibility. Before stepping into the world of therapy, I worked as a Respite Care Provider, Residential Counsellor, and Employment Counsellor, supporting neurodiverse individuals and advocating for inclusive care.
Driven by my passion for creative healing, I pursued a master's-level Art Psychotherapy Diploma through the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy. This rigorous two-year program included extensive coursework, guided supervision by experienced Art Psychotherapists, and a 300-hour clinical practicum. Through this training, I deepened my skills in art-based therapeutic approaches, learning how creativity can foster self-expression, resilience, and emotional well-being.
